What conditions were used for MMMU-Pro benchmark?

First of all, thank you for releasing the Gemma 4 models.

I'm trying to reproduce the published MMMU-Pro score of 73.8% for Gemma-4 26B A4B, but I'm currently observing a substantially lower score, and some evaluation details do not appear to be publicly documented.

Observation

Using MMMU-Pro Vision (test split) with thinking mode enabled and max_new_tokens=8192, I observed an interesting failure mode.

In an initial sample of 20 test questions, 7 never produced a final answer. Instead, the model appeared to enter a repetitive reasoning loop, repeatedly generating variants of statements such as:

"Let me re-examine the image..."

"Wait, let me look again..."

without progressing toward a final response, despite remaining well below the token limit.

Questions

  1. What exact prompting setup, sampling configuration, and max_new_tokens value were used to obtain the reported 73.8% MMMU-Pro score?

  2. Which evaluation harness was used (official MMMU/MMMU-Pro evaluation code, or an internal evaluation pipeline)?

  3. During your MMMU-Pro evaluation, did you observe cases where the model never emitted a final answer and instead entered a repetitive reasoning loop?

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
